These are the main services offered by www.indieproofing.co.uk. Since the work involved can vary enormously depending on the amount to check, there are no fixed fees - developers with smaller workloads will therefore be charged less.
As the first point of contact with your customers, a professional website is an absolute must. Poor English will reflect poorly on your company profile and can at best confuse your customers - or at worst, lose you sales.
Websites can also cause other problems - more than one developer has lost sales because an order link was not updated. We will check your entire company website (or any specific pages you request) not only for spelling, grammar and general writing errors but will also check links, picture captions and so on.
Websites can be checked "in situ" and corrections can be sent either as replacement HTML pages or as a plain text list of errors.
Cost - $1 per 100 words (or part thereof). We aim to complete proofing within two weeks but may require longer for large orders.
One area many people do not consider is their in-game text. Buttons within the game, dialogue between characters, item descriptions, even lists of random names - mistakes can slip into any of your game text quite easily and go unnoticed for some time.
We check game text for obvious spelling and grammatical errors and also check names for consistency. Please send us either a plain text file of your game text or, if your text is held within source code, send us the relevant excerpts; corrections will be made and the corrected files returned.

Your offline documentation is just as important as the rest of your game. A well written manual looks professional, makes instructions easier to understand and encourages customers to buy from you. And what about press releases, announcements, letters/e-mails to publishers?
We will check game manuals, readme files and any "plain" documents you wish for stylistic slips, clumsy sentences, errors in spelling and grammar and to ensure consistency. Send them as text files, HTML (webpages), MS Word documents or in Rich Text Format and we will return the corrected versions. Please contact us if your documentation is in a different format.
